The Orb

A giant orb floated above the city. It held great powers, or so the people thought. Everyone came out in droves. There were lines and tables with party favors laid out. I saw characters from movies that had come alive from the power of the giant orb. They drove by in a small white car. I took my time collecting some snacks that were laid out on one of the tables. The next thing I knew, it was my turn to enter the orb, but I had missed my chance. The orb flew up into the air and into space and disappeared. I had been left behind. Later, I was in a house with some other guys who I didn’t know very well. I decided that it didn’t matter that the orb was gone, that I had powers on my own. I flew through the air quite easily. This didn’t amount to much, though, and I woke up.

Dead Grass and Deserted Homes

Last night I had another zombie dream. At first, I was on some kind of island, where the grass was all yellow and kind of faded. I think there was a cult of some kind where people were carrying on some kind of dark ceremonies. Soon, it was clear that I was the only person alive on the island. The rest were flesh eating zombies. I made my way to the shore of the island and saw that the main land wasn’t too far away. I don’t remember swimming, but I ended up in a place with houses that were all deserted. I ran into my older brother, who was as confused as I was as to what was going on. I told him about the zombies, and we headed for the city in an airplane. There was lots of destruction below us with fires and overturned vehicles, but no zombies or living people could be seen. We must have landed and went into some kind of industrial building with glass doors. Suddenly, there was a rush of zombies coming at us. We fought them off as best we could, but one of them bit my brother in the crotch. He yelled out in pain, and I beat the creature with great fury and fear. When I threw the thing against the wall, it appeared to be a dead dog. My brother seemed to be ok. The next thing I remember was being alone on a hillside with the same yellowish grass around some deserted homes. I thought about maybe seeking refuge in one of the houses, but resolved to continue on and try to find others alive. I suppose that was about the time I woke up.

Am I Dreaming?

I was a ghost. I thought I might be dead, but I had a strong feeling that I wasn’t. The thing is, no one could see or hear me. I could walk through walls and my hand passed through books and furniture. I think I might have bumped into my dad earlier, but in my dreams we never say any words. There is just an overall mood. At one point, to test my theory (that I was dreaming), I flew up into the rafters of this one room. When I went outside to really fly up into the sky, I jumped and fell flat in the grass. It was hard to tell if I was dreaming or not. I got up and went from apartment to apartment, seeing how different people decorated their apartments. I could walk through walls. Some people were sleeping; some were talking or getting things together. One blonde woman was watching a movie in her apartment, and I passed halfway through the window to see what it was. It might have been a Hitchcock film or The Sound of Music, but I didn’t recognize it. After she adjusted her shirt, she got up to leave. I followed outside where she got on a motorcycle. I tried to ride along, and I did for a bit, but the alarm woke me up soon after we crashed into a restaurant of some kind.

Apparently, I Want to Be a Superhero and Own a Puppy

There I was: Red spandex and forms to fill out, waiting in a large room with a bunch of other costumed hopefuls. I was on the Sci-Fi Channel's second edition of "Who Wants to Be a Superhero," the reality show where contestants compete to be immortalized in their own comic book. They split us up into groups and herded us off to our first elimination round. On the way to the car, I noticed a few droids (like the ones in the Star Wars prequels) attacking a defenseless child. I realized this might be the first challenge, so while other would-be heroes moseyed over to the transportation, I began shooting at the droids with blasts of energy from my fists.

Next thing I know, I'm in a kitchen with my girlfriend and her Mom and Grandmother, and her Grandmother is presenting us with a gift for my older brother. It turns out to be a puppy, and we graciously thank her. After she leaves, we try to explain to her mom that my older brother is allergic to dogs. I open the package and find the pup irresistibly cute, and convince all concerned that we should keep him. Weird.

Ice Queen Beheads Santa Claus

Last night I had one of the worst nightmares I've had in a while. I was in some house or apartment and all the lights were out. I kept trying to turn them on but none worked. There were people lurking around and I couldn't see who they were. There was a child and an old man (and perhaps others) and their faces were all black, like they were hidden in shadows. I started really freaking out in the dream, running from one room to another, frantically trying to shed light on my surroundings. I've never had a panic attack, but I imagine that's what it might feel like. Finally I woke up with a start. I looked at the clock which said 3:00 am.

As I fell back asleep, I kept fighting off images of bloody heads and friends faces with fangs and demented smiles. The next part of the dream consisted of me sailing through a forest towards a mansion. I remember feeling drawn to it as if I was powerless to its magnetic pull. As I made my way into the house, I glided up the stairs into a large room where the Ice Queen was beheading Santa Claus. I recoiled in horror and reappeared far away on a hill. I knew she had already sent one of her minions after me to kill me since I had witnessed her murder.

I made my way up the hill to the top where there was a technology company of some kind that had a large mechanized robot. Just as I grabbed the remote control, the creature sent by the Ice Queen arrived and the two started to battle. It was sort of like in Aliens when Sigourney Weaver battles the alien queen in the exo-suit, except I was off to the side operating the machinery by remote.

Finally, once the beast was bested, I knew the Ice Queen had formed an army of magical creatures and minions with cannons and cavalry. It was as I was alerting the United States Military that I woke up.

Zach "Hollywood" Braff

I was at some sort of basement party with some friends. There was an old radio, I think, and some party snacks. Some time later I was at a big party in a very large house. I was out on the balcony talking to Zach Braff, giving him a hard time. I was saying, "you've had all the breaks! Your success has been handed to you!" His response was, "well, what've you done?" I yelled, "I've written a script! Yeah, and its really good, too! It's not done, yet, but it's really good! I even storyboarded it!" Naturally, he wanted to see it.

I began trying to find my old green backpack (which I haven't seen for years) that I knew had my storyboards and unfinished script in it. Randomly, it was on a staircase in the party, and I thought, "That's it!" As I began searching through it, the scene changed, and I was no longer there.

It was like I was watching a story unfold, like a movie. The period was either early 80's or late 70's. There was a teenage girl in the suburbs, presumably in high school. She was kind of nerdy but cute. At one point, she was sitting in the grass of her parents' house talking to a stud in red swim shorts. There was some detailed conversation I don't remember now, but I know they were flirting. Later on, the view changed to the girl's neighbors unloading groceries out of their car. As they went inside, my vision panned towards the girl's backyard where she and the stud were in the pool engaged in some sort of illicit activity.

Hours later, it was dark outside, and the girl was still near the pool. As she made her way towards the house, there was a party going on. It seems her parents were out of town. She slowly began to realize that the stud was long gone. It was sad. Only later when I was getting ready for work this morning, did I wonder to myself if the heartbreaker stud was actually Zach Braff. Then I thought, "No, I don't think so."

Hardcore Karaoke

I dreamt that an old childhood friend of mine was on tour as a hardcore karaoke singer. I went to his show in town, and he was on stage with no band, holding a microphone. Loud hardcore punk music was being pumped through the P.A. system and the place was packed with people. After the show, I asked him to stay over and catch up, but he had to leave immediately. I was bummed because I haven't hung out with him in ages.
